Learning to be a BLESSING

Exactly one week ago, on Friday, it was raining cats and dogs. I woke up to a cold morning and had to rush to work. And i was carrying an Umbrella through it. Then there was this guy walking infront of me in the rain. He was without an umbrella. um hum! So should I walk up to him and say "?". Say what? Excuse me, do you want to share the umbrella with me? Thats strange. Ahh nevermind about it. It was his mistake. Raining and never bring umbrella. He thinks he very Macho.

In the end, I walked happily sheltered to the train station. Then I heard a small still voice saying, "Be a BLESSING". I reflected on my thinking processes and found out that there were many hinders for me to be a blessing.

1. Pride
2. Blame
3. Apathy/Nonchalant
4. Convenience

I was reminded that there was a verse that talks about 'a fragrant offering and sacrifice' and so I flipped my Bible to find that verse. And there I found it in Eph 5.

Eph5:1 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

I want to take counter measures to rise up above my hinders so that I can be a Blessing. Reading the verse, I came up with the following:

1. Imitate God. For He is Humble. No excuse to ask if they have rights to be blessed.
2. Love beyond Selfish reasons/ Prejudice (dearly loved children). No excuse that I bless people only whom I'm comfortable with.
3. Live a life of love - a Heart full of Compassion. No excuse for having a harden heart.
4. Leave convenience - give yourself up as a Offering and Sacrifice. No excuse when feeling uncomfortable to bless.
My application: To be a blessing (apply ILLL )to one fellow G12 brother. And to find an opportunity to bless someone (out of my comfort zone) and report back. Would you do the same?
