Psalm 12: 2 Everyone lies to his neighbor;
their flattering lips speak with deception.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue
I was on the cab yesterday and thought about how we should guard our tongues. Concurring with the book of James, the tongue, a small part of the body but has tremendous impact. My integrity depends upon it, i cannot curse and praise with the same tongue. The tongue is seemingly more incline towards evil than good. So when i read today's Ps, with the Psalmist asking God to punish those who malign and lie, we know how much God dislike a lying tongue and flattering lips.
Ever occur to you that "back stabbing" in the court yards of school, work etc all involved that flattering lips, that false tongue, those lying tremors of our mouth? The Psalmist is also quick to know that when we pray to God about our injustice, He will answer, He hears and His word that states His protection over us, Ps 12:5 I will now arise," says the LORD.
"I will protect them from those who malign them."
God's words is not like that of evil men. His word stands 7 times purer than silver. Essentially, Ps 12 is the comparison between the cheap talk that the world offers vis a vis the word of God that is true. The word of the Lord stands firm forever, even when heaven and earth fades.
Application:
1. Watch our tongues. Ask your good friend to evaluate your "tongue".
Have you been true to God? i know i haven in this aspect.
2. Are you being back stab in your marketplace?
Pray daily to God and trust in HIS Protection, do not do as the evil do, for God is our avenger.
3. Have you been listening to the wrong voices of others and neglected the voice of the Lord? Spend time each day to address this, listen out for the Messiah's voice!
