As we begin this season of growing deep in the Year of Victory, I believe we need to start in prayer. We need to know how to engage in God more than mere activities. But what are we to pray for?
Ask God for a victorious life!
Have you ever wondered why some people are more blessed than others or have lesser troubles than others? What about them that God blessed?
One of the key of a victorious life is – BE HOLY!
Who are those that God seek out and bless?
2 Chronicles 16:9
"For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars."
The key is "completely" and "fully". We can see this emphasis throughout all of scripture.
Numbers 14:24
"But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it."
Joshua 14:14
"Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed the LORD God of Israel fully."
1 Kings 11:6
"Solomon did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not follow the LORD fully, as David his father had done."
Colossians 1:25
"Of this church I was made a minister according to the stewardship from God bestowed on me for your benefit, so that I might fully carry out the preaching of the word of God."
We can all love God. But the important question is our love complete? Full? The Lord commanded us to love God with all our hearts. We are all capable to love God and things/people – meaning our love for God is no difference in our love for others. God is just one among many loves in our lives. Hence, the key difference for victors and victim (of life) lies in the authenticity of Lordship in our lives.
When we love God fully, when our love is totally given to God, our lives are set apart for Him. In another word, we are Holy; same meaning for set apart.
How to live out a life of Holiness, a life of total commitment to God?
1. Check your Mind
2. Check your Motive
3. Check your Manner
Check your mind.
What fills your mind?
Romans 12:1-2
"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
Watch what you watch! Do not fill your mind with things that Jesus would not approve! He is in you!
Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
Check your motive.
Why do you do what you do?
Man centred or God centred reasons? It's beyond words and reasons. For example, blaming God when you don't get what you want or obeying even when it hurts.
Matt 5:8
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
2 Chron 20:32
"He walked in the way of his father Asa and did not depart from it, doing right in the sight of the LORD.33The high places, however, were not removed; the people had not yet directed their hearts to the God of their fathers."
A lack of complete devotion to God can direct us to the traps of the devil due to the open areas of our lives. God is not after what we are after. He is after US!
Check your manner.
Do you reflect God in your action?
Gal 5:18-25
"But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit."
Final Word
2 Tim 2:20-23
"Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. 21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. 22Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels."
God knows our humanity. He called us to pursue righteousness, faith, etc, WITH THOSE WHO CALL ON THE LORD together with the family of believers. God wants us to be connected with the Body of God. He knows that we are capable of losing our passion our pursuit our perseverance. We need one another to encourage us in this race towards God. Stay in accountability with your cell, g12 or mentors.
I want to be HOLY! I know that the devil will want to disqualify us when we make such declaration. But there is no victory without confrontation. SO we need to surround one another in love. I want to please God. I want my life to bring smile to His face. I want Him to be proud of me. I don’t want to hurt Him. I want to be His friend.
I want to see our tribe rise up to be a generation of Holy people before God. A generation that will bless Him. Join me in this pursuit wholeheartedly, fully, completely, and experience the VICTORY OF THE LORD.
