Love is NOT in a day's affair

Valentine's day came and went. It was a day where the World celebrated "Love". The streets of orchard were filled with ladies carrying teddy bears, roses, balloons and holding their boyfriends' hands. I'm sure you have an idea of what I'm talking about. But have you ever wondered What is Love?

My answer comes from the bible, 1 John 4:10-12, "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. "

Lets dig deeper to the definition of Love and in verse 16 it says And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

I'm here to bring Sarah and her cell group's reflections on Love and Valentine's day.

During a cell meeting on the Friday before Valentine's day at Grace's house, we read verses from Romans 8:28-39 and I got the ladies to share one verse from these that really spoke to them. In conclusion, the message God gave us was "We are victorious and we need to persevere in what we do, because God loves us and He will carry us through. He has our best interests." Therefore, how should we respond? Shouldn't we obey and love Him? How? --> Mark 12: 30-31 --Love God, love people.

During Valentine's Day, as the world celebrates loving relationships, all the more we need to love our greatest lover. In that meeting, we wrote love letters to God. In the letters, we could be as intimate as we wanted, because the audience was but one. I think we don't really say "I love You" to God readily and easily. We may sing the words "Jesus, all I live to do, is to love You, my God", but are we really singing from our hearts, or from our mouths? As the world busies themselves preparing gifts for their lovers, what is it that we want to do for God?

Loving God entails using ALL your heart, ALL your soul, ALL your mind and ALL your strength! God became the most neglected lover, because we are sometimes more concerned about the people around us, than Him.

Love people --> God said that "whatever you do unto your brothers, you do unto me". Have we been loving each other as what God has commanded us to do? I thank God for the love my sisters show me. Just a simple prayer for me makes me feel so blessed.

"Love" is a word that is on the lips of everyone, but let's not cheapen it by just "say say only". Ps SL always say "Love not expressed is love not received"

1. Let's continue to love God. -- "Have you written your love letter to Him yet?" Worship Him WITH our daily lives.

2. Let's continue to love people. -- "When was the last time you showed concern for another person?"
