There is an overseas community service project coming up soon that is being anchored by our tribe. If you have not heard about it, go and ask your G12 leaders about it today!
Having gone on a few overseas Serving Learning trips like these before, and having learnt much from these trips, it is a mystery to me why you young people out there are not jumping at a chance like this to be on such a trip to enrich yourselves and to see God work in a very real and practical way.
Look at the benefits - international exposure, learning a new skill (PS), being part of a cutting-edge community service project, engagement with overseas students, becoming a better person through learning how to serve others, experiencing a new culture, seeing a new place, etc. More importantly, spending time with the family, appreciating the reality of God in a way that will change your life, I could go on and on, really.
What about the costs (if any) - It's a lot of money, say some. Well, not really! Fund raising is an integral part of the learning in such a project. It could take on many forms and you learn even more going through that process. (Most people succeed at raising almost the full amount!) The result? Many others who are not able to be physically part of the project get to be involved by providing the financial means for you to be there. What else? time you say? Well, it's just 7 days. 7 very fulfilling days! In the process, you get to be trained to to simple magic tricks and also learn the basics of Service Learning - something that you are going to value for the rest of your life. (you can take my word for that)
Young people today do not realise the importance of being in an experience like this and how that is going to be a very integral part of their growth as an individual now, and in time to come. I've heard it time and time again. "God is not real. He doesn't answer my prayers." Well, perhaps it is time you stepped out and see for yourself how God is able to use us to bring His love to others in a very significant way. Take it from somebody who has been there and reaped the harvests of the wealth of learning from a project like this and today, have grown in the depth of my relationship with God.
This is not an appeal for more volunteers. Rather, I am asking all of you who are reading this to seriously consider why you are not signing up! Are you sure you want to miss out on a chance like this? Really, you WILL be missing out! Now, don't take my word for it. SIGN UP NOW and you will know exactly what I mean. Do it through your G12 leaders. I am fully convinced you will not regret it.
