Jackie Pullinger’s life is indeed a testimony of how God will use a life wholly surrendered to Him. Impeccably, an inspiring woman; she didn’t share mere vivid, heart-wrenching and encouraging stories of dug addicts and the poor. She shared her burning passion with such induced conviction.
The hearts of those who heard here were ministered. Blessed with a renewed compassion for the poor and a conviction that we cannot simply walk by the next time we see someone in need. 3 of Kenneth’s 12 share their reflections.

Learning: Sometimes we do have a “soul hunter’s” attitude in reaching out to the lost—especially when we are always focused on the multitudes—but Jackie reminded us that we are to show love not because people will change or are guaranteed to turn to Jesus, but simply because God has first loved us so much. It was new way of looking at things for me, too, when Jackie spoke about us not having any rights in this life at all—except death. Our finances, our abilities and our time, all these are but gifts from God; we are never to treat them as if they are our rights.
Application: The “Ministry with the Poor” conference was a huge blessing to me, and I pray that we will not simply allow our attitudes to be changed without us taking action to make ministering with the poor a way of life.

Learning: To her, ministry with the poor is not a professional ministry but a way of life and an attitude of the heart. She cares for every lost and poor that she comes across and every one of them matters to her – She truly has a heart that is reflective of God’s own. Giving is in the heart of Jesus and when we give, we exercise the heart of Jesus. We all can help the needy and the poor around us. We all have something to give and it can just be simple acts of kindness to a person that you know in need of help. Sharing the gospel and winning the world for Christ starts by simply doing these simple acts.
Application: There is a Saviour for every lost person. God has placed each of us in our workplace/study place and that lost person might only be reached by you. Dear family, let us know this not only in our minds and hearts, but practice what we know as well.

Learning: If I didn’t forgive someone, I probably never understood nor believed in a God who forgives. If I didn’t give/serve the poor, I probably didn’t know our Jesus. Moreover, giving had to do with the heart of Jesus. We were meant to just exercise His heart. If we lacked His heart, we could ask for His grace to help us with our deficient. He would FILL us up AS we go. It was all about God’s heart. The poor was always in His heart.
Application: “Treat one poor man, as if he is Jesus!” she cried out. That is what Jesus wanted us to do as well, even if it was just a cup of water. The Lord reminded me of the tissue lady opposite Heeran. Probably it’s the right time to start serving her, as if she was Jesus.
