The Journey of Giving

It has been a few months long of preparation building up towards this overseas service-learning project that I recently led. The process was long and tough yet I knew the victory at the end will be sweet. This is my second time leading a team to China. The experience was quite different as this time round was leading adults. Love kept me going and Love taught me to accept differences whether it is within the team or in a cross cultural context.

I saw for myself how important it is to be at the right place at the right time and say the right words. I am thankful that though I am not personally taking small groups of university students, I had the opportunity to have close interaction with some. Through simple life lessons, I believe I imparted hope in those fearful hearts. Some of these Chinese youths were caught in the performance trap. While they may feel tired and drained, they went on losing the very heart of being who they are. I find myself repeating the lesson of giving to different individuals. I couldn’t help but felt so convicted by SP's message that life is not about getting what we want. Only when we learn to give, we find the real joy of living such a lifestyle. It is indeed more blessed to give than to receive.

This itself is magical.
I am more satisfied in giving than receiving as I realize I received more through giving.
