Juanita Bynum - One Night With The King

Thanks Vanessa, she introduced this black mama singing to me. Really nice, now i am inspired to sing black gospel. Their singing styles contain the inspirations and aspirations to break out of their oppressions. The song is an inspiration from the book of Esther. Ironically, the book of Esther does not refer specifically to God. Yet His unseen Hand is constantly at work in the events Esther relates. Taking aside the grand disposition of God, for example, moving 3 million out of Egpyt, parting the red sea and the creation story, God moves even amongst the mundane things of life and show that He is at work. The main theme for the book can be summarised by four words: "God is in control". He is in control in a 3 ways.

1.) In the time of our lives. Ever thought that You wish you know Christ earlier? God's answer to us is that we knew Him specifically for such a time as this (Esther 4:13). There is no mistake, God is in control.

2.) In our station in life. Be it studies, work, a season of drought or fruitfulness. Make no mistakes about it. Esther was made queen for a reason in her season. Through the many twists and turns, imagine the coincidences of her becoming queen such as the desposing of Vashti (Xeres'1st wife), winning favor of Hegai and how Esther foiled the assasination of Xeres. We are placed where we are for a purpose. God is in control of our stations in life. (r/f Esther 4:13)

3.) In our birth, living and dying. Esther's famous exhortation "If i perish, i perish" showed not only her courage but also faith in a God who watches over us in a continuum of eternity. Living is just part of it. We all know the difference between stupidity and courage is such a thin line. Before we fall into any haste decisions, she did ask the people to fast and pray for her. She was seeking God too. (r/f Esther 4:15-16) She believed in a God who is in control of her eternity.

The message of Esther is to be sensitive to His will. To listen to His quiet voice. And to respond to Him eagerly and faithfully. As we listen to the song, may we be reminded too of seeking God in the mundane and "seemingly"unimpressive stuff.

Indeed one night with our Heavenly King changes everything, one day in His courts can forever change our course.

Esther says: God has a Place and Purpose for you.

1. See God's PLACE for you
2. Seize God's PURPOSE for your life

A. You must ACT to seize God's purpose
B. You must be WILLING to pay the price. Esther said 'If I perish, I perish'.

I need to accept my place and act on His purposes rather than counting the cost which is something dear to us. Cost us time and what are others thinking of you.
