As we step into the Year of Victory, one must wonder, "How can I be victorious?"
Well, we've been learning about how to be victorious during the Sunday sermons as well as during our prayer meetings. So far, we've learnt two key steps to become victorious. Last week, Pastor taught us that the first step is to Be Holy! To do that, we have to check our mind, check our motives and check our manners.
Today, Pastor taught us the next step to victory. The next step is to Be Led! I thought it was very interesting when Pastor shared this with us. You see, God always leads us in victory, but the question is, are you there standing beside Him during the victory? Many times God has paved the way and is there waiting for us, but we fail to be there. God leads, but we aren't following. It could be due to physical or spiritual distractions or some other reason, but we just don't follow. We need to acknowledge that God is leading us and be willing to be led!
How then do we "be led"? We must build an altar for God in our lives. Through the prayer meeting, God showed to me that the altar in my life was not for Him. During the prayer, Pastor led us to build an altar for God wherever we were. I decided to tear down my old altar and rebuild it, making one fit for God. You see, if God is not throned over our lives we will never be able to hear from Him.
As such, Pastor shared with us a simple acronym. ALTAR.
1. Have an Attitude of brokeness,
2. Let go of your self-rule,
3. be filled with Thanksgiving,
4. Admit your sins and prejudices and then
5. Receive revelations. This is a process we followed during our prayer time.
I had always wondered why there are times I can't hear God. I don't receive the revelations that I cry out for. But tonight, I learnt from Pastor that there are many things that will block us from hearing from God. Just as the word ALTAR is spelt in a certain order, we must pray in that same order. Doing this allows us to remove any blockages from God by "settling our business with God" first. Once that is done, then we are able to hear God's word for us.
I know now, how to receive revelations for God and that I must built an altar for God in my life. Let's all go together in this journey of victory. Let us all be led by God and be victorious!
"Now thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and He revealing through us the odor of the knowledge of Him in every place." - 2 Corinthians 2:14 (MKJV)
