It has been a week since I am back from Cambodia. Personally I would like to thank all of you for your prayer over my fear of chicken since I came to know that we will be staying in the village and there are quite alot of 'them' around...
There were a few objectives for me to go for this trip with the Boys' Brigade Boys from our coy. One of them was to face my own fear. Courage is not the absence of fear but facing it and eventually overcoming it. I wanted to face it, confront it as I am rather frustrated with this irrational fear of mine especially if I want to do long-term mission work in time to come. It's a real fear and when the bus was approaching the Boys' Brigade Learning Center (BBLC), my heart was beating fast as I had no idea what would become of me. Will I go hysterical? Will I be a burden to the group? Maybe I should not have come to Cambodia... I could only pray and our God is One who hears our prayers. Amen?
Every day during the week in Cambodia, we had to walk a distance from BBLC to a house along the main road for our meals (lunch and dinner) and we would pass by the villagers' houses and I would never miss our dear 'friends' - cocks, hens and chicks. It was good training for me! Thank God I did not go hysterical and the team need not cast out any spirit of 'chicken' from me. You know why? The supernatural power of God was there and the love of God was evident. I am surprised that I could see the hen and chicks and enjoyed the scene of her motherly love over the young ones. The Officers (Amos, Narash, Lance and Charles), the teacher IC (Karen) and the Boys would keep a look out for me. They did not laugh at me but protected me. I would not say that I have overcome my fear completely (I would not dare touch or hug the chickens for sure at least for now) but I am really thankful for experiencing God in such unique manner. Our God is real if only you believe! [+]
To be honest, it became such a wonderful trip for me instead of one filled with fear. The stars in the sky and the fireflies at night were really so beautiful, the gekco and the spiders were exceptionally big and the people in Cambodia were simple, friendly and teachable. God's creation - awesome and amazing!!! Although we stayed in very simple lodging (Karen and I were on a super single bed with mosquito net for 4 nights, no light and fan in the night when we sleep, exactly 3 meals a day), I really felt like a princess.
This is not self-deception, ok? :) I had a hand-powered fan with me all the time (the weather is very very hot), my bed had a netting that protected me from the attack of the creepy crawlies, my plates were washed by the Boys (their cleaning duty) and once we even hired a tuk tuk (the Cambodia taxi) and were chauffeured to a town clinic as Karen's foot became swollen due to some bacterial infection on her blisters. We were chauffeured back to BBLC after the clinic visit. I was telling Karen when we were on the way back how beautiful the scenery in Cambodia was and how 'princessly' I felt. She had a good laugh. On the last afternoon at BBLC, we went to visit some families and their school and once again, the Boys and the Cambodian youth protected me from my 'foes'. My heart is filled with much gratitude to the Lord for His blessings!
Though the living and school condition in Cambodia may not be comparable to that of Singapore, the Cambodian youth whom we come into contact with became a great blessing to us, especially to our BB Boys. Their simplicity, friendliness and teachability caused our Boys to reflect much and learn to appreciate the things they have. We see our Boys gaining confidence over the 5 days in cross-cultural interaction, assuming leadership in leading activities and being more appreciative of life in Singapore. It was a truly a service-learning trip for us. My prayer, as I have told the Boys, is to make application on what they have learnt from the trip. I am also thankful for the bonding built among us, between Boys and between Officers and Boys. We may not be the best coy yet but the existence of this coy is really by God's grace since 2004. And I know He is watching over us and blessing us throughout. :)
To end my sharing with you is to give glory to our almighty God for the 3 salvations (2 Cambodian youth and 1 of our BB Boys) we saw during this trip. The 2 Cambodian youth were led by the worker at BBLC and he said that because we were there, he had the space and time to talk to them more. Our BB Boy was led to receive the Lord on the flight back due to divine seating arrangement. He was seated beside Pastor Amos. Praise the Lord indeed for these salvations! I pray for more. Truly His kingdom come, His will be done! We serve a personal and powerful God!
God is good all the time!

Oh no! The TV has to go!
Today's sermon by SP was certainly different. In case you are still wondering if SP said it right.... Yes! Ladder of Success stops with immediate effect, so don't turn up for Post Encounter or SOL next week! Someone joked that when SP mentioned that during service, he turned around to see if anyone around him pumped their fist in the air and went, "Yes!" Upon some reflection, I wonder if there are those among us who really feel this way. Finally for once, we can wake up later on Sunday. Thank God for the break, thank God for the rest! Thank God that we got more time to do our own things! I hope not! If you heard SP clearly, we are stopping all equipping because our hearts are not right before God! What's the use of doing all these just so that we can fill up the blank spaces in our equipping record? Today was a timely reminder to ask God to check our hearts. [+]
Personally, the 40-Day fast from TV is going to one of my biggest struggle. TV time for me is de-stressing time for me. But I realise that it too has become an idol in my life. I question myself, why watch TV to de-stress instead of reading the Word of God which refreshes my soul and equips me for every good work? It seems a simple decision to make right? But it required such a drastic call to pray from SP to tear me away from the goggle box. I think that's reflective of the state of my walk with God. I would rather watch TV then spend time with God.
Two things I heard over the weekend stood out for me this week. The first was when SP said, "It is not that God wants to deprive us of the things that we desire. He doesn't want us to sacrifice the most important thing in the world - our relationship with Him." I believe it's time we learnt the truth of that. Is knowing and obeying God more important than our computer games, our TV shows, our dinner with friends, our outing with old schoolmates? It is easy to say yes, but I urge you to ask God to test your heart so that it might be revealed true and authentic before Him.
The second thing that struck a cord with me was during prayer meeting when Pastor SL challenged us, "What's the difference between us as spiritual leaders and the leaders out there in the world if we do not pray?" It was really a rhetorical question of course. There is no difference. We are as good as depending on our own abilities and skills instead of tapping into the infinite resources of the Almighty. It is no wonder that while we hope and expect supernatural things to happen (eg.great revival, breakthroughs in members' lives, the sick healed, the dead raised, etc), we witness only those humanly possible. It is impossible to be a cell leader/G12 leader if we don't pray. Supernatural things call for supernatural means! More importantly, how do we know God's heart in all that we are doing if we don't bother to seek and listen to Him?
I pray and encourage all of us that we will grow to delight God in this area. For a start, no TV and computer games will feel a little like cold-turkey treatment. I felt it tonight already. (The urge was very strong but I chose to deny myself.) But I pray that we will all grow to delight in spending time with God, to walk with Him, to tarry with Him. And in case you are wondering about this word that appeared in the hymn we sang today, Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary defines tarry as 1. to linger in expectation or 2. to abide or stay in or at a place.
May you be blessed greatly as you tarry with God personally. Amen!

Honoring Our Leaders
It's the 3rd day of CNY, we went to Pastor's house to Pai nian. Prior to this, i sent him a long email about my raw feelings about work, church, and my life. Put it plainly, it was a negative email filled with a laundry list of defeats, failures, confusions, disillusions etc. I felt that I had to let him know how I was feeling, I did not wait for those thoughts to be processed, because I knew I was on the road to spiritual suicide. I may not even get a chance to process those thoughts, I could end up dead spiritually sooner than I think.
That day, pastor shared to the us about honoring our leaders from the bible. [+]
1. David honored Saul by not killing Saul and repented for ambushing him.
2. Paul shared to the church in Corinth of how the Macedonian Churches gave to him monetarily, even beyond their means while they were going through severe situations (2 Corinth 8). They urgently pleaded with Paul for the priviledge of sharing in his service to the saints. Paul encouraged the church in Corinth to excel too in this grace of giving. (Do read the account for yourself).
3. Onesimus was in prison when he was led to salvation by Paul (Read Philemon). After regaining his freedom by serving a prison sentence on a count of dessertion as a slave from his owner, Philemon denied his rights as a free man and stayed behind to serve Paul in prison. Paul in turn, sent Onesimus back to Philemon and asked Philemon to receive him back, not as a slave, but as a brother.
The Ang Baos of CNY symbolises the act of giving in our culture. The bible is filled with instances where people gave, some their valuables to help the poor, some like our Lord, His life to save us. There are many ways of honoring our leaders. Giving oranges during CNY is one example of that. Pastor shared with us how we can honour our leaders meaningfully:
1. Giving of our time.
Taking the initiative to spending quality time with our leaders.
2. Acts of kindness and Service.
Meet our leaders' needs.
3. Being Accountable.
Allow your leaders to walk the stations in life with you.
Point no. 3 struck me most. FCBC is well known for our tradition and firm belief of strict accountability, especially when it comes to relationships and dating. Sometimes, we go through the same mechanical regurgitation of our deeds and misdeeds in our monthly reports or meet ups but forget that our leaders are more interested in the accountability of our hearts than our deeds. We cleverly disguise our struggles with rationales, answering our doubts and "solving" our struggles with politically correct and diplomatically labelled answers. We mask our emotions, numb our senses, pride ourselves as strong and stubbornly believe that we know what to do and we can handle it. Sometimes, the fact remains that we cannot. There are circumstances that are beyond our reach and influence. It is ok to admit to our leaders, pastors and God that we have hit the wall and can't go anywhere.
I am thankful that my pastors allow me to share my very raw sentiments of my struggles with them. Instead of giving me a good lecture on why I shouldnt be thinking what i am thinking, they love me and prayed for me. Cried with me, wiped my tears, walked with me. I see the reflection of God in them. It doesn't matter how raw, rough, cold, blunt, depressing my walk is now, they chose to come beside me, just as God did. When my heart rebelled and turned against Him, He covered my iniquities and shielded me. He sent my leaders to help me connect with the brokenness and emptiness in my life. To point to me that, there is a ray of hope, there is a sunshine worth of light.
I learnt something about honoring my leaders today. To share not just my deeds but my inner most struggles, not my outward expressions but my inward meditations. Not just the battles I fight outside but also the war that rages in me, inside. They are more interested in my heart and my eventual success, than scrutinizing my defeats and failures.
What is your accountability to your leaders like?

A Bang of a CNY Lunch
The SJ24 gathered at Pastor SL's house last Saturday for our yearly reunion lunch. It has become tradition that every year during Chinese New Year, we will gather to eat popiah at pastor's house. As always, we had a great time of fellowshipping with each other and enjoying the good food. What made it all the more special was the presence of old/ new friends among us. Ha ha. Take a look at the photos, you will understand. It is during occasions like this, that it really hits me how much of a family we have grown to become. [+]
I still remember the first few years when we were became SJ24. As we often met at pastor's place, I always remember the scene of opening the front door to enter the house. Over the years, I could see a change in my feelings and emotions as I walked through the door. In the initial years, it was very much one of apprehension. Sometimes, the thoughts in my mind would go like this, "Wah, today has been a really long day, now got to make small talk some more. I think I will stick close to Evan..." Over the years, it was not uncommon to feel tired and distracted after coming from school. Sometimes, the thoughts in my head would go, "Hmm.. I wonder what time we will finish today. I wonder who is here today..." Many times, I would walk through the door quietly, feeling a little out of place, especially when there are already many people at the dinner table. It's not so much that I did not feel welcomed, rather, seeing so many people suddenly just made me want to shy away for a while.
Last Saturday was a fresh experience for me. I came with my brother (one of our new friends, go figure. ha ha). It was his first time there, so I had to show him the way (Brother - "Oh, you mean not taking the lift ah?") We had not met at pastor's place in a while, and it felt like I was coming home as I directed him up the stairs. As I opened the door, the familiar chorus of 'Hello! Come in!" greeted me. The lunch table was packed. It was a familiar scene and I was totally comfortable. I felt totally at ease. I wanted to see my spiritual family and to spend time with them. It wasn't an obligation to be there. I didn't have to put on any masks. I could be who I was and I knew that I was accepted.
I realise of course, not everyone feels the same way as I do. You might feel differently about your open cell or G12 group whenever you gather. Perhaps, you are thinking, we are different because we are SJ24. We know how to support and encourage each other. Well, I can tell you we only GREW to become that way because we decided we wanted that and we still are growing. There is no perfect family. But over the years, I have learnt that it starts with you taking ownership of your own family. Don't wait for others to be a blessing to you. Start by being a blessing to those around you. Take time to ask about each other sincerely, not just in a "Hi-bye" manner. Surprise one another with something special whether it's their birthday or not. Inspire each other towards love and good deeds.
And learn to do all these in your own physical family too.
I believe CNY is a time to remember the goodness of God in our families. I pray as you do that, that God will give you a greater capacity to love your family (physical and spiritual) in this year of sabbath. Enjoy the photos. :)

God's words versus Man's words
Psalm 12: 2 Everyone lies to his neighbor;
their flattering lips speak with deception.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue
I was on the cab yesterday and thought about how we should guard our tongues. Concurring with the book of James, the tongue, a small part of the body but has tremendous impact. My integrity depends upon it, i cannot curse and praise with the same tongue. The tongue is seemingly more incline towards evil than good. So when i read today's Ps, with the Psalmist asking God to punish those who malign and lie, we know how much God dislike a lying tongue and flattering lips.
Ever occur to you that "back stabbing" in the court yards of school, work etc all involved that flattering lips, that false tongue, those lying tremors of our mouth? The Psalmist is also quick to know that when we pray to God about our injustice, He will answer, He hears and His word that states His protection over us, Ps 12:5 I will now arise," says the LORD.
"I will protect them from those who malign them."
God's words is not like that of evil men. His word stands 7 times purer than silver. Essentially, Ps 12 is the comparison between the cheap talk that the world offers vis a vis the word of God that is true. The word of the Lord stands firm forever, even when heaven and earth fades.
Application:
1. Watch our tongues. Ask your good friend to evaluate your "tongue".
Have you been true to God? i know i haven in this aspect.
2. Are you being back stab in your marketplace?
Pray daily to God and trust in HIS Protection, do not do as the evil do, for God is our avenger.
3. Have you been listening to the wrong voices of others and neglected the voice of the Lord? Spend time each day to address this, listen out for the Messiah's voice!

Going Back to Our Roots
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, Even there your hand will guide me,
Interesting to see the positive responses posted in the Tag Board regarding the Chinese and Hokkien worship songs put up in our tribe blog. These are the language of our hearts, aren’t they?
Though we have been very effective in using English to communicate, the language of our hearts is very much rooted back to our culture; where we belong.
No man is an island; we belong to a family, a community, a people group. [...]
Acts 17:26 : From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.
Where we are born is determined by God, which race we belong is also planned by Him. We need to thank God for the ethnic group that we comes from.
Why do we need to embrace our roots? I think the answer very clearly stated in vs. 27
26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
Our God is so marvelous, isn’t He? Even through our roots, He wants to bring us back to Him.
As we enjoy these worship songs, let’s learn to praise God in these languages. Learn to use the correct phrases so that when we share with our parents, grandparents, our people group about Jesus, we can use the language of their hearts.
Our parents need to know that Jesus is not just the Lord of the “Ang Moh”. He is the Lord of the Chinese, the Lord of the Indian, The LORD OF ALL.
( PS: So Narash and Jedd should consider Joshua’s suggestions seriously, to look out for worship songs in your Indian language. If cannot find, can consider to WRITE…)
Just to share with you a song written from Ps 139:1-10. May the words of Lord speaks to us.展开清晨的翅膀
(赞美之泉系列)
我舌头上的话,你没有一句不知道。
我可以往哪里去躲避你的灵?
我可以往哪里去逃,可躲避你的面?O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely, O LORD.
Where can I flee from your presence?
your right hand will hold me fast.

The Wave of the Gospel
It was a great privilege to listen to Ps Peter Tsukahira’s teaching during one of the staff devotion at TCT. He shared with us a big picture message about how the Word of God has swept across the world since the history of mankind.
He traced for us from Apostle Paul 2nd missionary trip, when Paul received the Macedonian call in his dreams (Acts 16:9-10). It was the very first records of how the Holy Spirit has intentionally directed the missionary journey of Apostle Paul westwards. Paul and his team was prevented to go to Asia and Bithynia but directed to Macedonia which is the modern day Greece. The gospel to the Gentiles continued and went down to Rome eventually. [...]
In Rome, the believers were persecuted and oppressed as the people of Rome were required to worship the emperor himself. Those who stood firm in their faith to God became martyrs. The Roman Empire stood as the most powerful empire then till the invasion from the north. Pagans or barbarians (anyone outside the Roman civilization) came down from the north in search of food, land and everything else. The Germanic tribes (barbarians) expanded, clashed and overrun the Roman Empire in the late 5th Century. While the Germanic tribes entered Rome, the formerly suppressed gospel entered them. There was a great conversion to Christianity for these tribes. Pause and imagine a message of a Saviour from the Asian Province then was totally accepted by the barbarian tribes from Northern Europe.
Yes, these tribes were the ones who occupied and founded the modern day Europe. Holding on the new found faith and Word, they moved up north and began building their nations with Christianity as central. From laws to civilization to arts to technology to infrastructure, everything was built around Christianity. Yes, they even managed to convince the rest of the world that Christ is a blue-eyed, blonde hair Saviour from the western world.
(Just on Saturday, I played a game with my BB boys, dividing them into tribes, Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Franks and Romans). The Visigoths founded Italy, Ostrogoths founded Portugal and Spain and Franks France of course. The Celtic tribes became the British. Though they were not the most hardworking or most intelligent, they prospered and became the super powers in the world. The Great Britain. The blessings were on them when they held the Word of God central to every single aspect of their society. The fall came when the imperfection for men failed God and the further work of the Holy Spirit was stopped.
The faithful remnants continued to move west. They were in search of a new land to rebuild a new nation with the Word of God. Many died on the journey due to harsh terrain conditions. Finally they founded a land of Independence now known as the United States of America. Yet again a land built with Christianity as the central pillar. We all know how this nation rose in power till this very day as the ‘Big Brother’.
The Word of God did not cease in its movement sweeping around the world westwards. Revival swept across Africa, Korea (mega churches) and faster into Asia. With this wave of the gospel, we also saw the shift in the political and economical strength. In China, Christian movements are bringing the gospel back to Jerusalem.
In India, they are anticipating a revival greater than that in China. All these happenings are closing up on 2 conditions which will be fulfilled for the end of time to come:
The wave of the gospel is moving faster than before! The wave of God’s Word has gone almost around the world westward from Jerusalem and now it is heading back there. It is hitting the 10/40 window (most unreached people group). Are you seeing it?
Are you still struggling with your daily life? Is your heart troubled with concerns from day to day? Now pause and think, no matter what is the condition of your heart, the wave of God is still moving. Are you catching His wave? Pause and pray. Ask God to help us to rise up from the sin that so easily entangles and catch His waves so we can stay in tune with Him. Amen.

Reflection from Sunday's Sermon - The Law of The Spirit Of Life
For a season of time, Say Pin, one of Ps Seng Lee's 12 will be contributing to this blog by writing his reflections and learning from each Sunday's message. As you read each entry, I pray that you will receive from the Holy Spirit new insight and revelation of the Lord's word for you. I have posted the most recent entry first. Look out for the rest to come.
Date: 14 / 10 / 2007
Preacher: Rev Peter Tsukahira
Theme: The Law of The Spirit of Life
Biblical foundations: Exodus 19:3-6
3 Learning Points:
1. Just as a person is no more a leader if he has no followers, a king is no more kingly without his kingdom of followers. The fact that we worship God makes us his subjects in His Kingdom. As His subjects, God has set expectations for us. In Exodus 19:6; we are called to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. We have to abide by His Laws and does His will, lest we become outlaws and alienate ourselves from God (Matt 7:21).
2. Luke 17:21 tells us that God’s kingdom reigns within each believer. Hence, where we are called to be, location and profession, therein lies the kingdom of God. Being called to be the market-place minister is thus not an exclusive option, but an inclusive mission. Wherever we go, whatever the occasion, we need to uphold His name and allow His name to reign supreme. Read on.
3. In the Sermon of the Mount, Jesus raised the bar to the level that the old Laws are supposed to have uphold. The Laws condemned murder and adultery as sins. Jesus clarified and taught that the roots of both; i.e. anger and lust are enough to disqualify us from righteousness. Humanly speaking, we cannot measure up to Jesus’s standard. That is why we call out for God’s mercy and grace; to spare us from the wrath of God and at the same time, lead us into an everlasting fellowship with Jesus. What this means is that we need to die to ourselves so that it is no longer us that live, but Christ who live within us. (Gal 2:20).
2 reflective questions
1. We were reminded that mercy and justice are inseparable and complementary. If not for mercy, justice will see that the offender receives the necessary punishment. Thus, the significance of one is manifested in the presence of the other. In the same way, God’s grace is magnified as we seek to measure up to the standards set by His Laws.
Was there anything wrong with the Laws set in the first five books of the bible? Essentially, the Laws before the redemption by Christ, demanded strict submission and non-compliance is deemed as sin and hence, required follow-up atonement rituals such as animal sacrifice as an act of atonement.
I believe that is why God sent His Son to fulfill the Laws when it became clear that His chosen people had fallen wayward. When Jesus died on the cross at Calvary, His blood was shed for all. God poured out His amazing grace through His sacrifice of His son, so that all who believe in Him can come under the redemptive purpose of Christ’s sacrifice.
In short, there is nothing wrong with the old Laws. Jesus came not to abolish it but to fulfil it (Matthew 5:117). His grace becomes sufficient for us and the Holy Spirit now tutors us as we seek to adhere to the Laws. For one, we will guard against anger and lust, long before we find ourselves at the footstep of murder and adultery. Just as justice brings meaning to mercy, laws magnify the need for grace and calls for the tutelage of the Holy Spirit.
2. Rev Peter Tsukahira challenged us to be the Peter and Caleb of our times. We are to rise up as men and women of faith to claim God’s inheritance and proclaim God’s kingdom wherever we are. Where then, is our promised land where milk and honey flow?
I choose to believe that God places us in a strategic position and location. For us to complain about our colleagues and lament about how life under the previous management or workplace is so much better, is to deny God of establishing His kingdom. We need to stop doubting and start trusting God that where we are, in order for God’s blessing to flow. It is God’s promised land for us. We need to proclaim in supernatural faith and follow up by blessing the people in our marketplace.
1 Application
1. Education has already been redeemed for God. What needs to be done is a cohesive and coordinated effort to allow the fragrance of God to permeate it through us acting as God's instruments of blessing. As a body of Christ, I feel more can be done to harness the possibilities of collaboration and networking. In this way, we can play a more active role in supporting and growing one another.
Whether it is the educational landscape or the school you are in or the workplace that you are at, God has specifically called you there. Will you rise up to be the blessing that God has called you to be? Decide today to do so!

Called to be Champions!
The TODAY Newspaper featured our very dear SP on its Thursday issue! It's s fantastic blessing that SP is able to represent Singapore to play polo at the SEA Games. What a year of victory! Let's continue to pray for good health and protection to be upon SP and His family.
As I read the article, my heart swelled with pride for SP. At his age, doing what he is doing, it is simply amazing. I believe all this could happen because he chose to obey God in every part of his life. Think about it, many of us struggle with doing what we have passion for (eg. a sport or a hobby or our job) and building the kingdom of God. Here is a Godly man who gave himself to preaching the Good News and making disciples of all nations. And God has opened the doors for him to represent Singapore internationally in a sport that he enjoys playing. Doesn't that just speak of the Lord's faithfulness? Read on...
Sometimes, we get the idea that God is this person who enjoys seeing us suffer for Him. The more we give up on the things we love, the happier He is. How far from the truth that is! The Bible tells us in Romans 8:32, "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" and in Matthew 7:11, "If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
God desires to bless us! And to bless us much more than we can ever think or imagine. However, God also does not want us to treat Him like a genie. He loves us too much to allow that. He wants us to ask of Him the things that are on His heart! He knows best what is good for us at any particular point of time in our lives. We need to grow to know His heart for us, so that we know how and when to ask of Him. That's why Psalms 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." God is not slow to bless. Many times, we are the ones who are slow to align ourselves to His will in our lives.
Isn't the God of SP the same God that we know and worship? If you truly believe that, then you need to ask in faith of the Lord for the victories in your life! Do you still believe that 2007 is the Year of Victory for you of have you gone into a "live life as it comes" mode? What were the things that you wrote on your warrior matrix? The Lord doesn't forget what we bring before Him. But perhaps you have. Take out your warrior matrix today. Put it in front of your work desk. Begin to claim those promises in faith and seek the Lord to do something different for the rest of the year - something that demonstrates your faith rather than your human logic. We are called to be Champions, let's start living like one.
Personally, I was struck by this that the Lord revealed during the Ministry Team Training recently. Do we know God's power in our lives? If we don't, what right do we have to tell the rest of the world about it? Not telling is NOT the solution. The only other alternative is to experience God's power in your life today! That is my sincere prayer and cry to the Lord. May it be yours too!

The Law of the Spirit of Life- Pastor Peter Tsukahira
This week’s sermon was a powerful reminder of the very nature and character of God, one who is lawful, one who is just and one who loves us unconditionally.
Pastor Peter started his sermon with the question; ‘How did God rule His nation?’ Basically asking us, ‘How then should we live?’
- God gave us His law....
His word is a strong tower
- We have to see God as King...
His laws are for our benefit and to protect us.
- We are under God's law as well as His grace... Matt 7:21...'not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord will enter into my Kingdom...I never knew you who practiced lawlessness...'
Therefore, Jesus rules with perfect love and perfect law.
The many times I struggled with understanding and obeying the letter of the law, worried about the words rather than to understand why God gave us the law.
I was then reminded of how all my non-Christian friends avoided Christianity because of its strict laws and commands and also how many of my Christian friends fell away, concerned about the law, giving up on its values and seriousness.
After hearing the word of God through Pastor Peter, I am again reminded and relieved of the truth of God’s word which says that the letter of the law kills but the Spirit of the law gives life.
God through Jesus has raised the bar for all of us, that includes me, I am however not doomed but am given grace through Jesus to achieve His standards. That brings me so much relieve as I see the love of God extended out through His son Jesus, and again I claim His word in Romans 8:1, ‘ That there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ, for the Law of the Spirit of Life has set you free from the Law of sin and death.’
Hallelujah!
Indeed, Christ is victorious as He did a supernatural act of grace and is still working out His grace for those who need it and want to attain the fulfilment of His laws, not the letter but the spirit of the law.
The key is to make Jesus King and to let Him rule over us and make His Kingdom His.
Lord, I pray that we begin to see Your very nature, one of lawfulness & justice, and one who provides His grace for all of us to attain holiness. I pray that we begin to stand firm on this truth and walk in a manner worthy, as living sacrifices. Amen!!

Hear the Whisper of His Call

3The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
So many times that there are so many voices around us; within us that we missed to hear out for the voice of our Great Shepherd
I repented of the lack of setting aside time for the Lord; in the midst of busyness; doing things, good things... but missing the point.
Want to encourage you too; to set aside time to be with Him; not just to tell Him the things that you have, things that you need to do ... but to hear the voice of our faithful God.

Our God of Wonders
150 BLESSINGS in one Sunday.
193 BLESSINGS since Saturday night.
581 BLESSINGS since 8 July 2007.
These were the figures that I got after consolidating for my tribe. But am I impressed with the numbers? No. It was never just about the numbers. What am I impressed with? When I saw the people in my tribe coming together on Sunday responding to SP's call to bless 5 by the end of the day, helping each other out to be a blessing to people in Singapore. When i witnessed us fumble a little as some of us approached strangers for the first time, yet we pressed on, not giving up, knowing that in the security of God's family, we can be bold to try again. When we hung in there, making sure that each of us were able to bless 5 before we called it a day. When we allowed ourselves to be a fool for Christ, pressing on even though we experienced many rejections. That's what I was impressed with.
I believe our faith has been built up. Not just personally and individually, but as SJ Family. I believe that God has enlarged our capacity to love the people around us. I have heard many of us share about how each time we go out, we are more aware of the people around us who need God and how we went forth in boldness to help and be a blessing to them. I believe that we have understood a little more what it means to make blessing our lifestyle and that God has engineered this little exercise to soften our hearts to give us new freedom to go forth and bless even more.
I believe too that God has used the 100k Campaign to soften the ground in Singapore and caused many to be drawn to Him.
That's what I am impressed about. That's WHO I am impressed with - God.
I'm reminded again about the 2 verses that have guided us through this campaign and this Year of Victory.
2 Corinthians 2:14
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.
Zechariah 4:6
So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty."
I believe these 2 verses clearly exemplified our experiences during the 100K. Truly the Lord has remained faithful to His word. Truly He is God who is real and who desires to bless His people. Let us take a minute to praise Him for give honour to Him. Amen.
Here are some testimonies from my guys after we made the last push last Sunday. (Read on...)
Daniel Lee, 21, Undergraduate | Joshua's Tribe
When Ps Khong gave the order for 5 more blessings, i was half-worried, half-excited. But when the idea of fusing balloons with the blessings hit me, i decided that it was going to be a fun event afterall!
Being a blessing can be FUN.
Despite my initial perception that it was going to be a challenge, the fusion actually proved to be almost too easy! Because,
- Balloons proved to be an instant crowd-puller and a superb conversation starter.
- no more approaching strangers to hard-sell a "survey" or an "insurance policy" - Free balloons easily demonstrated our intentions: simply to bless the community.
- the synonymity made it easy to demonstrate our blessing with a balloon and then take it a level higher by offering a prayer of blessing - The people were more open after receiving a material need (a balloon).
- our actions piqued their interest enough for them to be open to receive a prayer (Or possibly maybe they were just too paiseh to refuse. Haha.)
Watching our guys try their best to bless 5 people has brought heart-warming joy to me. From the garang-ness of Nicholas (aiya, 1-2-3, just go la), to the innocent bluntness of Tristan (we are from so-and-so church, do you want to be blessed?), to the ever-trying but ever-shy Jeremiah (er.. you do la, I just pump ballons;) then later, (aiya! why just now I never go?).
This 100K campaign has indeed pushed us all beyond our comfort zones. Different learning journeys we may have, and no matter the experience, I know for sure we have all at least grown somewhat.
Charles Tan, 20, NSF | Joshua's Tribe
The 100k i believe, has caused a positive change in the lives of many. I for one testify to that. When Pastor Ed Silvoso shared about the 4 levels of christians in the marketplace i knew i would have fallen into the 1 - 2 maybe 1/2 level category. 100k has caused us to rise the levels to be one that is involved in the transformation of the marketplace.
Another wonderful thing it has done is that it subtly molds us to know what it means to be a salt and light of the world full of darkness. When we take effort to go to our colleagues/ classmates/ army mates to bless them, we inevitably become conscious of our behavior and the way we portray ourselves as marketplace ministers. So it changes us for the better even in our character to an extent.
AS of 8 July 07. I have completed blessing my entire platoon in army with the 100k. Though it may sound easy but to me i never ever tot i'll be able to do that. i thank God. I thank God for the times i went out in search of people to bless and got rejected countless times and how at the end of the day when we do our count we still meet our targets..
I realized that when we go in the name of Jesus, He will never fail us. Somehow. As one of my favorite verses clearly expresses in Isaiah 55:5 that His ways are always higher than ours. We just have to step out on the water and WALK.
I am very encouraged also to know how God really remembers our faithfulness in the small things we do. Maybe some of us ponder at times if 100k is making any change in the lives of those we blessed. Its too early to tell. Lets be patient and see how God turn the tides for us.
Meanwhile we just have to...
"Hi have you heard of the hundred K k k challenge? *wink wink*"

God is intentional about everyone we bless!

Having worked in TOUCH, approaching strangers is not something new. However, it has been an eye opener to see how God leads people to us and open doors. After the charge from Pastor, I left for Simei with my group. I briefly explained the procedure to my guys and we headed out for our mini faith exercise. I went ahead without much plan of whom should I go for. Somehow the Lord showed me how intentional He is about each individual I approached.
- The first was a girl who seemed to be hurrying off for an appointment. When I started explaining to her, her facial expression seemed to me that she was not interested and ‘why me?’ kind of thing. After my careful explanation of my intention, she decided to choose for herself a blessing. She ticked the fullness of Holy Spirit. Slightly surprised, I asked her if she is a believer. She then began to explain that she is facing parental objection in going to church. Right now, she is attending Cornerstone. I immediately understood that God wanted me to pray for this issue regarding her parents’ objection to her faith.
- The second was a Chinese man who came from Jiangsu, China. He is here in Singapore to work. I am so glad that he appreciated the blessing so much and was very grateful for it. We started chatting and upon asking him about his beliefs, he explained that his mum, who is still in China, is a believer. The entire family follows his mum’s belief though he himself does not believe in anything. I began to see that God wants to show him that He is pursuing him even in a foreign land. I prayed for him to experience God too.
- The third was a mother and daughter who were waiting for the husband to pick them up. Upon talking, I found out that they were all Christians. I continued to bless the whole family regardless. The husband in return prayed for me and blessed me. I suddenly felt in my spirit that God wants to refresh my tired soul. He was intentional about it. I was blessed when his hands were laid on me.
- The final 2 were a father and son who were waiting for a bus. They are into Taoism explaining the gods they worship. I didn’t have a chance to pray for them as the bus arrived. God reminded me that I was worshipping the same gods in my childhood when I was into Taoism. His grace saves me and allowed me to be where I am today. I believe the same can happen to this father and son as I pray for them.

100k Blessing- GB 10th Anniversary

Some tell of how timely God has answered our prayers for others, and how He has led others to us for blessings; Others tell of how our simple obedience to bless others has brought them eternal salvation, and how receptive people actually are towards receiving our blessings – and even helping us to bless more people.
Today the GB 11th Coy held our celebration in the school after TCS walk. The rain poured heavily at noon; yet the guests arrived punctually, with almost 100% attendance. Praise the Lord!
The junior girls hosted the programme, and the 44 girls had great fun; together with the GB helpers and my G12 ladies.
Some of the highlights of the programmes includes:
* Puppet Show by the GB girls, bringing the truth that Jesus loves all the children…
* Fun games, including balloon sculptures as door gifts
* Praise and Worship to praise the Lord
The 3-hour programme ended with Pastor Jo teaching the girls the importance of listening; and receiving the blessing from God.
A total of 28 girls received the blessings…

Thank God for His faithfulness…

Pass It On!
Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
As I was processing the learning with my camp group during Tribe Camp, one of the highlights of some of my group members was the structural experience of lighting up the candles and “passing it on” during the camp fire night. More than the singing of the song, many caught a glimpse of the significance of being the light of the world. What was unusual this time as compared to past candle lighting experiences was the way we organized ourselves – in concentric circles. The call to gather and form up in this manner by Pastor Seng Lee was according to him a response to the prompting of the Lord.
Pastor’s intention was to help each of us to appreciate the distinctive property of light in a backdrop of darkness. The sight of light was comforting to the eyes as it represents hope and security. As Christians, we are called to reflect the glory of God or the characteristics of Christ in this world (living testimonies) darkened by sin and the dominion of the devil.
As I was reflecting on the experience, a few things caught my attention. (Read on...)
As Warriors of Light, we are called to:
1) Pass It On
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Eph 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord.
Light and darkness in the Bible represent good and evil and they have no association with each other. I was reminded that as believers, we have been rescued from the dominion of darkness and inherit the kingdom of light. Jesus, the Light of the world, was like the flame that lit up the candles of our lives, giving us hope. We are called to be the light, to be different for the Lord. The darker the world, the brighter the spark of light would be. What does it mean to be a warrior of light? May I suggest to you that it is about reflecting Christ in our attitude, actions and speech. It is about pleasing God and bringing a smile to Jesus.
During the candle lighting experience, I found myself fighting hard to prevent the flame from being extinguished by the wind. I felt the Lord impressing upon me that we need to guard the flame of our spiritual lives for without the flame, we have nothing to pass it on. The wind depicts life challenges, distractions and spiritual confrontations. As warriors of light, we need to fight to keep the flame blazing. Is your flame still burning strong today? Look to Jesus who can set us ablaze over and over again.
2) Pass It On Together
Ecc 4:12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Deut 32:30 How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?
Another interesting incident happened when we were passing the flame around. I was beside Evan and his candle flame was suddenly extinguished by a gust of wind. It gave me great delight to light his candle. Thinking that my candle flame would remain lighted throughout the whole experience, the next thing I knew, my candle flame was put out by a gust of wind too. I humbly received Evan’s aid to light my candle again. Through this incident, the Lord reminded me that we need one another to light up the community.
It is a collective task to impact the society. We need one another to finish strong and accomplish God’s highest purpose for our lives. We need one another to display the fullness of Christ to the lost world. If you want to flow with the corporate anointing, be part of a spiritual family. The Lord can do greater things through us as a united body than when we operate individually.
Are you a lone ranger in your walk with God? Be committed to a spiritual family as a warrior does not fight alone. Be enrolled in the army of God! Flow with the G12 vision!
3) Pass It On Together Faithfully
1 Col 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Just one spark can light up the whole setting eventually as the flame is passed from one person to another. Never underestimate the little act of kindness that God has prompted you to do. The one life that you have touched can in turn be used by the Lord to touch many other lives. You can count the number of seeds in an apple but you cannot count the number of apples in a seed. Our God is a God of how much more. He specializes in using the little that we offer to Him and multiplying it for His kingdom purposes.
What happens if everyone chooses to keep the flame to himself or herself and does not pass it on? We will then be short-changing others of God’s blessings and limiting the work of God in our lives. So choose to be a blessing to others today. It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35). Each of us are given different talents and gifting by God. We are called to serve one another with what the Lord has blessed us so that the body of Christ may be complete, lacking nothing.
Essentially, it is not about how much you can do or achieve for God but how faithful you are in doing the things that He has entrusted you. He is a faithful God and He calls us to be faithful as well. Will you imitate Him? Will you be faithful to His call to participate in the 100K campaign?
Application
Phil 2:1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
2 Tim 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Let’s be like-minded and be one in spirit and purpose in the bond of His love.
Let’s encourage one another to fight the good fight, finish the race and keep the faith.

Victory Over Temptation
I am studying the book of James and will be blogging down my reflections and insights to share with the rest of you. I pray you will be blessed and encouraged in the Lord. - Andrew
Are you struggling with impure thoughts or unwholesome talk? Are you gossiping about others behind their backs? Are you tempted to bring the office/school stationery back to your home for your own use? Are you cheating on your car park labels? Are you cheating in exams, class tests or class assignments?
These are some examples of temptation that many believers are facing. James addressed the issues of temptation in the following verses.
JAS 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
JAS 1:16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all He created.
There are two kinds of testing:
a) Trials – designed by God to cause growth in believers so that they are drawn closer to God. Trials can come in the forms of withheld blessings (fruitfulness, health, finance, etc), hardships or persecutions. Trials bring out the best in us. They are external tests of stamina.
ii) Temptations – designed by the devil to cause believers to sin so that they are drawn away from God. Temptations can come in the forms of immoral or sinful desires. They cause us to disobey God resulting in guilt, condemnation and alienation. Temptations bring out the worst in us. They are internal solicitations to sin.
How then can we overcome temptation?(Read on...)
1) Be Realistic
1COR 10:14 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
The phrase ‘common to man’ tells us that every believer will have his/her share of temptation in his/her spiritual journey. No one can escape from temptation. Even Jesus was being tempted in every way as we are, yet He did not sin (Heb 4: 15). It is not a sin to be tempted. We can be tempted yet not sin if we do not yield to it. We cannot stop a bird from flying over our head but we can prevent it from resting on our head. Similarly, we cannot stop temptation from coming to us but we can prevent it from having a grip on us. Therefore, do not struggle with temptation alone. Be open to share to someone you can trust or are accountable to so that you can pray together.
Satan wants us to hide our struggles in the dark alone. He wants to cripple us with guilt so that we would not be effective for God. To overcome his strategy, we ought to bring it to light and ask God for His grace to overcome the temptation.
2) Be Responsible
One truth that all of us should know is that God has given us the freedom of choice. Therefore, we always have choices in all the decisions we make but there will always be consequences as well. God wants us to make good decisions. However, there will be occasions when we make the wrong decisions. So when we choose to yield to temptation (wrong choice) resulting in sin, we should not blame others or find excuses such as “I’m helpless”, “Everyone is doing it”, “Someone made me do it”, “Nobody is perfect”, etc.
Man is always ready to shift responsibility for his sins. If he cannot blame God or others, he gives excuse for himself by calling sin a weakness or sickness. The fact is that sin is a moral failure for which man must give an account. The way out is to and admit and take responsibility for our wrongs before God. Look inwardly and not outwardly.
3) Be Ready
Matt 26:41Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
James told us to beware of the devil’s schemes and not be deceived. Satan is the father of lies. He wants to corrupt our view of God so that we cannot persevere during times of testing. Without the correct view of God, believers would lose hope and give in to temptation. He succeeds whenever we start to doubt God’s goodness and blame Him for our failures. Those who blame God do not know that God’s nature has nothing to do evil. He cannot tolerate evil. Some argued that God allowed evil to take place.
Evil is present because of the devil and the fallen nature of man. Evil desires in man produce evil actions. Praise God that He already has plans to get rid of evil and put everything in place in His perfect timing. Meanwhile, we need to overcome temptation not in our own strength but by God’s strength. Most people tend to be more susceptible to temptation when they are not accountable to any spiritual authority, physically or emotionally exhausted (the body is weak), stressed, idling or even after experiencing a success. We can resist temptation when we are in constant communion with God through prayer and His Word (Ps 119:11).
Have you been taking time off to commune with God? Have you been putting on the full armour of God (Eph 6:11) and praying in the Spirit (Eph 6:18)?
How does Satan tempt us?
a) Desire
JAS 1:14a but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire…
Desires are not necessarily bad but Satan corrupts them or turns them to bad desire. We cannot be tempted if there is no desire. For example, people who have no desire to smoke would not be tempted to smoke. Temptation starts with wrong desire. So to overcome temptation, pray that God sanctifies our desires.
b) Deception
JAS 1:14b …he is dragged away and enticed.
Satan knows our weaknesses and designs the bait to trap us. When we think that we can flirt around with temptation and not get hooked, we have already been deceived.
c) Disobedience
JAS 1:15a Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin…
Arrest the temptation when it starts to appear in the mind. The battlefield is in the mind. Once it gets our attention, a wrong attitude will lead to wrong action. Our beliefs control our behaviours.
d) Death
JAS 1:15a …and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Death is the opposite of abundant life. We would then lose the fellowship with God and enter into a cycle of defeat.
4) Be Refocused
Jas 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
PS 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Since our mind is the battlefield, we need to align our thoughts to the word of God. The more we allow the truths of God to take root in our mind, the more we can we know God and our identity in Him. Right thinking coupled with right attitude will lead to right actions. Focus on what you want (blessings and victory) and not want you do not want (sin and defeat). Focus on the goodness and faithfulness of God (His unchanging nature) and not doubting Him. If something gets your attention, it gets you. Focus on God inside of you fighting the devil outside.
One common mistake that many believers make is to try to fight temptation by trying not to entertain it in their mind. They usually lose in the fight eventually as they are fighting in the flesh. Rather they should flee from temptation (1 Cor. 6:18, 10:14, 2 Tim 2:22) but fight the devil (Eph. 6: 13).
Have you allowed the Logos word of God to saturate your mind so that you can be strengthened more readily by the Rhema word of God in times of temptation? Jesus defeated the devil when He was tempted in the desert with the Rhema word of God. So can you!
5) Be Reborn
Jas 1:18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all He created.
Know that you are chosen by God. Our spiritual birth is gift from God. Praise God that He has given us a new nature to overcome temptation. In Him, we are able to resist temptation. To have constant victory, we need remain in Him through obedience to His Word. His truth has no effect until it finds union with our spirit. Then faith (God’s kind of life) will arise.
The root of temptation is unholy desires (1 John 2: 16).
- Lust of the flesh (passion)
- Lust of eye (possession)
- Pride of life (position)
Temptation destroys us so count the cost.
Trust defends us so wait upon God and do not take things into our own hands.
Ultimately, it is a question of who do you trust? Is it God or yourself?
If Jesus Christ is the Lord over our lives, we will not be tempted easily.
Is Jesus really Lord over your life?
1COR 10:14 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
The incarnated Christ was tempted too. He fully understands our struggles with temptations and He welcomes you to His throne of grace to find strength and comfort. Let God fight for you!
Application
- Flee from temptation. Don’t fight it.
- Focus on God. Fight the devil
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
- Don’t fight alone. Be accountable.

BB overseas adventure trip
It was a beautiful trip. It was something I had in my mind close to a year ago to bring my BB boys out to immense in the adventurous spirit. Indeed, it allows the “boy” in us to be fully released as we venture from caves to rainforest tracks to rock walls and rivers. It was the first overseas trip we had together as a company. It was also the first time I saw how the boys have developed their friendships into brotherhood. A family is forming as they grow to accept one another along with the differences. This trip brought about many “firsts” in our BB company.
We had our first train ride together into Jerantut (Malaysia). A past midnight transit where our boys had their first time sleeping in cockroaches infested rooms. A bus ride to Gua Kota Gelanggi. For all of us, our FIRST TIME camping in caves. Wow! It was amazing how caves are formed. It has natural cool breezes from morning to night like air-conditioned. Rocks which form images which range from animal shapes to as far as your imagination can bring you. For many, our first attempt in rock climbing and abseiling on natural rock walls. Darkness brought the boys closer together when fear drives them to share their light with each other.
The second day we trekked up Bukit Teresek at Taman Negara National Park. For some, their first longest climb up twice the height of Bukit Timah Hill. Still for some, the first time they experienced brotherhood as they held hands to avoid danger on the rainforest track. A few had their first conquest over height phobia as they walked through the canopy walk (swinging bridges). For all of us, the first time getting wet together as a narrow wooden boat brought us through the grade one rapids down the river.
The entire trip had a beautiful closure as we gathered in one of the room in Tekam Plantation Resort on the last night for a time of trip facilitation. Each boy had their first attempt to affirm and appreciate their buddies. The strength of the company is indeed built upon the individual effort to strengthen ties. To build rather than tear down, to encourage rather put down, to accept rather than reject and to love rather than to wait for love. Like many overseas trips, I know it is a milestone for 99th company and the memories will be the rock structure in the caves, staying in the hearts of the boys for a long time. More importantly, the seeds of truth sown and the valuable lessons learnt.

Reflections on Jackie Pullinger
Jackie Pullinger. Her name has not been unfamiliar because pastor Khong has mentioned her several times when he was preaching on how the Holy Spirit has moved so powerfully in her ministry in delivering the drug addicts from addiction.
Though her seminar took place at a time when I was busy with school exam marking, I decided to go for the Lord has placed in my heart an excitement to meet up with this lady as she is going to preach on Ministry of the poor, a ministry that I am unacquainted with.
It is indeed a great privilege to meet her in person. Yet it was not Jackie Pullinger I met. I met Jesus! The God in her is so magnified, so exalted and so glorified! Several truths hit hit home. One of the truths is every believer who truly follows Jesus must in one way or other be involved in the ministry of the poor. It is not a ministry.
Thank You Lord for the second chance!
